Welcome to my practice. I am so glad you are here.

My name is Maureen McCartney and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience counseling individuals and couples.  My career has followed my passion to help women and men cope with the stressors and trauma associated with infertility, pregnancy loss, high risk pregnancies, postpartum anxiety and depression, and new parenthood. I operate what is essentially a boutique psychotherapy practice: I work with a limited number of clients at any given time so that I can provide attentive and focused counseling to individuals and couples coping with these issues. I am based in San Diego, but I provide online teletherapy to individuals and couples throughout the state of California.

The road to becoming a parent during infertility and pregnancy loss can be traumatic and isolating.  During therapy sessions, I help clients gain clarity during this painful time and develop a plan of healing. I bring extensive knowledge and experience to my practice, with specialized postgraduate training in fertility counseling.

I am also certified in Perinatal Mental Health, focusing on anxiety, depression, and other perinatal stressors both during the pregnancy and in the months after delivery.  I work with many couples to help them regain their connection and strength as they adjust to their new identity as parents.  I cannot think of a greater professional privilege than providing counseling to my clients on their journey to building a family and navigating the transition to parenthood.
