Frequently asked questions.

What does a typical session look like?

Each session is 45-50 minutes long and held virtually. After you schedule your first appointment, you will receive initial paperwork and a video link via email. The paperwork is brief, signed electronically and convenient. Once it is time for your scheduled appointment, you will click on the emailed video link to begin a private and HIPPA protected session. It will be important for you to have a quiet and private place to participate in your session without interruption.

Do you accept insurance?

McCartney Therapy does not accept insurance. Maureen is an out-of-network provider and will provide a superbill to those seeking reimbursement.  Please be advised that insurance companies will require an official diagnosis to be documented on your superbill.  To determine if your Out of Network benefits will cover therapy, contact your insurance company and ask:

(1) Do I have out of network benefits for routine 45-50 min individual/couples counseling?

(2) Do I need to meet a deductible before my out of network benefits kick in?

(3) How much will my out of network benefits cover?

(4) Do I need a pre authorization code for routine 45-50 min individual/couples counseling?

How do I know which provider is the right fit for me?

Some therapists now offer a free 15 minute consult to see if a provider is the right fit for you and to answer any questions about therapy that you may have. Please contact Maureen at maureen@mccartneytherapy.com or at (619) 775-7800 to schedule your free 15 minute consult.

What is your cancellation and no-show policy?

If you need to cancel a session, please contact Maureen at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a fee. If you do not provide at least 24-hours in advance notice or no-show to your appointment, you will be required to pay the scheduled counseling fee in full.
